How to Decorate a Foyer for a Wedding

How to Decorate a Foyer for a Wedding

An open area near the entrance of wherever your wedding ceremony or reception will be held can be considered the foyer. This may be in a home, church, reception hall, restaurant or country club. Make a statement with the way you decorate the foyer area. Use details that reflect your wedding theme and create a welcoming mood for your guests.

Candles

Scatter candles in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors throughout the foyer of your wedding venue. Place one large table in the center of your foyer for guest to walk around. Fill the table with candelabras, votives, or hurricane candle holders. Fill each holder with pillar candles, tea lights, candlesticks or flameless candles. The candles should be different heights for added dimension and placed on top of mirrored tiles to create a romantic twinkle.

Greenery and Flowers

Use bundles of greenery or flowers as a decorative accent in the foyer. Place large floral arrangements on tables or on the floor, or use topiaries for a sophisticated look. Use flowers that suit the season and theme of your wedding. You can also match the color of the flowers to the color of your other decorations or the bridesmaid dresses. Another option is to place a large potted tree in the center of the foyer. The tree can be decorated with ribbon or lanterns on the branches.

Memorabilia

Add meaningful memorabilia to the decor of the foyer on your wedding day. Place photo albums, picture frames and scrapbooks on a designated table. This can be the same table that you have your guest book. The photos can be of you and your future spouse from childhood through your years of dating. Include your family in this decorative activity by setting out framed photos of your parents, grandparents and even your great-grandparent's wedding photos.

Arch

Display a decorative arch in your wedding foyer for guests to walk under and take photos near. The arch can be placed at the entrance way or in a focal point of the foyer. Use a white metal arch or one made of a durable wood. Add decorative elements such as tube or string lighting, greenery, flowers or fabric by wrapping it from one end of the arch to the other. You can also hang decorations such as beaded strings or paper lanterns from the center of the arch.
