How to Fix a Cigarette Burn in a Table Pad Cover

A wooden dining room table or coffee table can suffer when not protected by a table pad, which is thicker and more durable than a tablecloth. A table pad takes the abuse so your fine wood finish doesn't have to. If the pad has a cigarette burn on it, you can easily repair it to restore the room's elegant look. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Spray the cigarette burn with an all-purpose cleaner and wipe it down with a sponge. This will remove any ash still in the burn. Allow it to air dry.

    2

Rub the cigarette burn with 100-grit sandpaper to remove the disruptive texture of the burn and allow the paint to adhere. Wipe down the burn with a tack cloth to remove sanding dust.

    3

Dip a paintbrush in a shade of acrylic paint that matches the table pad, dab it on the stain and allow to air dry.

    4

Dip your brush in a clear polyurethane finish and dab it over the dry paint to protect it. Allow it to dry overnight.
